This piece focuses on the quiet rhythm of the plant — stems arching gently, each bell suspended in place, held just before movement. The flowers fall in soft repetition, creating a sense of calm and continuity across the composition.

The leaves sit low and grounded, forming a darker base from which the stems rise and curve, allowing the lighter blooms to lift and gather towards the upper edge of the frame. The composition is contained, more inward than expansive, drawing the eye into a quieter, more reflective space.

The frame forms part of the work. Refinished by hand in a soft, muted tone and gently aged with wax and subtle gilded detailing along the edges, its surface holds a quiet depth — shifting slightly in warmth as the light changes.

As the light moves throughout the day, shadows fall across the backing and frame, altering the balance of the piece — at times more defined, at others softer and more diffused.

The lily of the valley is fixed within the depth of the frame, where glass would traditionally sit, allowing the work to exist between sculpture and wall piece.

The frame measures approximately 29.5 × 34.5cm, with a depth of 5cm.
The overall composition extends to approximately 31 × 35cm, with a depth of 14cm.

Created as a one-off botanical study, this piece reflects the quiet structure and gentle repetition of lily of the valley — something held in place, offering a sense of stillness within the home.
